The current capitalistic paradigm built on reductionism is not obsolete, but thriving. However, humanity is reduced to minimalistic compare to capitalistic proliferation, and the human society marked by short-video, social media, and online shopping is becoming increasingly boring and stagnant, due to over-emphasis on profit and efficiency, killing creativity and diversity which are not market-profitable. The question never easily answered by attacking the capitalistic system, and this project aims to provide an answer.

To overcome the dilemma, the critical thinking skills as what we learned from current education system, is insufficient and shall be lifted to unprecedented height, by removing the assumptions like privatization and profit maximization, to embrace the unknown. Mathematics, the essence of reductionism, will be used throught the project where formalism is needed. As a precise language, we don't aim to be crystal accurate, but to avoid ambiguity and self-contradiction in discussions based on natural languages.

Ecofunctor is a research project hoping to find new interests, by exploring following topics:

  • ecology, ecosystem, complex systems and dynamical systems
  • mathematics and computer science
  • philosophy about public ownership, post-capitalism theories like Marxism, Anarchism, and Lacanian/Zizikian theory.

Currently the project is focusing on bringing the gap between normal audience and difficult topics in several fields, like abstract mathematics, computer science, and philosophy, with a wiki website for easy access and reading, and the mindset of mathematical rigor and clarity shall be adopted.

In addition, the sister project ecofunctor practical is focusing on applying the theories to practice, like open source hardware, or even restaurants and coffee bars operated in a cooperative way.

The purpose of this project could be anything but profit(setting the profitability as goal renders the project unnecessary):

  • improvement of critical thinking via Lacanian/Zizikian/Schopenhauer theories, together with abstract mathematics, to lift analytical skills to a unseen height
  • daoism, and other eastern pantheist philosophies which emphasize the whole, and combine with modern reductionist thinking
  • cooperative economy rather than private ownership to lift economy out of just profit maximization.
  • no single value measurement(like money, GDP, efficiency), but analysis from multiple dimensions, intuitions and emotions
  • decentralized, everyone shall took part, and even start their own similar projects
